Nissan Bluebird EV review: Anyone order an electric taxi?

We were delighted today to come across a 4 page feature in Autocar Magazine featuring Nissan Bluebird that we converted to electric – now rechristened Newbird.

Over the last few weeks we have been getting a start on our next conversion – a 1968 Morris Minor Traveller.

The car is getting an 80kw Motor from a leaf along with 16 battery modules from a 30kWh leaf giving it approx 20kWh’s of battery storage.

The next conversion in the workshop just arrived.

All will be revealed next week when we give you Images, video and the full story on the plans for the next in the line. Its a beauty of a car and we are all excited to have it with us 🙂

We love this work – “Are you converted yet?”

The Newbird returned today as the guys from Autocar magazine came to visit and drive it to the Nissan plant in Sunderland. Great to meet the guys and talk conversions. We will post when the article comes out.

We also discovered that another YouTube channel, Hubnut, has had the car and done a video on it. Check it out.

Taken in part exchange

• Had a worn engine so it was replaced with a unit that has only 30,000 miles on it. Runs great now.
• Mot until Feb 2023

During refurbishment the car has had –

• New number plates
• Heater rebuilt with new resistor (common issue on these cars)
• Complete service including spark plugs & all oils and filters
• New Tyres
• Full machine polish
• Wheel refurbishment
• New rear brake discs

Car is great to drive and always puts a smile on your face.
