Are you an experienced vehicle technician with strong mechanical and auto-electrical skills who wants to develop specialist EV expertise?

Kinghorn EV is an independent electric vehicle specialist. We are recruiting a capable technician to work alongside our Senior EV Technician, helping us grow our EV service and repair business. EV experience is welcome, but we are equally interested in a skilled conventional vehicle technician who is ready to learn.

You must already be able to complete normal servicing and mechanical repairs independently and confidently investigate automotive electrical faults. We can support your development in specialist EV work.

The work

Carry out servicing, inspections and mechanical repairs, including brakes, suspension and component replacement.
Diagnose and repair wiring and low-voltage electrical faults using wiring diagrams, a multimeter and diagnostic equipment.
Develop or apply your skills in EV repair, including battery removal, refitting and module replacement, within your training and authorisation and using safe working procedures.
Work alongside our senior technician on complex diagnosis, then take ownership of the agreed repair through to completion and quality checks.
Identify parts and additional work, keep clear job records and manage the progress of your own jobs.
Give customers technical updates. When further work or time is needed, provide the findings and labour/parts requirements to front of house to prepare an estimate, then explain it to the customer and obtain and record approval before proceeding.
Provide occasional support with existing EV conversion commitments where your skills are relevant.

What you will bring

Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair.
Proven workshop experience and the ability to complete servicing and mechanical repairs without constant supervision.
Strong practical auto-electrical fault-finding skills, including reading wiring diagrams and testing circuits systematically.
A careful, methodical approach, sound judgement and pride in the quality of your work.
The ability to organise your jobs, work at a productive pace and ask for support when needed.
Reliability, teamwork and clear communication.
Full UK driving licence and your own normal technician tools. We provide specialist EV, diagnostic and safety equipment.

Useful extras

EV or hybrid service and repair experience, relevant high-voltage qualifications or battery repair experience.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Confidence explaining technical findings to customers; support can be provided to develop this.

What we offer

£35,000–£40,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.

A permanent role, normally Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (40 working hours per week). Five days is preferred, but we will consider alternative arrangements for the right person.

We would ideally like someone to start within four weeks, but will consider other notice periods.
