Leaf 40 kWh Battery module replacement service

This service is not a battery upgrade. It is a replacement service for all of the modules inside a 40kWh battery pack.

Do you need your 40kWh ENV200 battery modules replacing?

ENV200 40 kWh Battery module replacement service

This service is not a battery upgrade. It is a replacement service for all of the modules inside a 40kWh battery pack.

If an env200 has been rapid charged excessively it can result in the modules swelling due to the heat build up. Some modules will then become damaged due to the decomposition of the elotrolyte and anode. This will usually cause the modules to have increased internal resistance which will result in reduced charge and discharge performance.

A key identifier of this is when the vehicle is in a low state of charge and a large draw is made on the battery (hard acceleration) the range indicator will drop rapidly.

Previously we have tried to replace only the swollen modules but there is too much difference between those and new modules and this also causes issues [...]

The car is a 1977 Reliant Scimitar GTE with a 3 litre V6 – The Essex V6 that was also used in a number of Ford vehicles including the Granada, Capri & Transit. For this electric conversion it was decided to use the complete system from a Nissan leaf to convert the car to electric.
